Hokkaido shrew (Sorex caecutiens)

article abstract

This article discussed the origination Sorex Caecutien species in Hokkaido. It is believed that through mutation, evolution and isolation, the ancestral population was separated, some going to the eurasian continent, and others going to Hokkaido, and later both species immigrated into the Russian Island Sakhalin (north of Hokkaido) where hybridization occurred.
